The contest
was a great opportunity to try out my idea for doing faux fair isle
using one solid color and a variegated color. I used charcoal Cashmerino
for the solid (stranded with OzYarn charcoal Alpaca to keep continuity
of gauge) and Lorna's Laces Sockknitter's Rainbow (with Red Heart
Mexicali.)
The top section
has the charcoal as the background and the bottom section has the
variegated rainbow as the background. I think the second is more
effective. It would have been better to use a variegated yarn that
had all of its colors lighter than the background color - the purple
and the green got lost in the charcoal. |
